November Cover for CLM

I’m happy to announce that the wonderful folks over at County Lines Magazine have chosen another one of my images for their November cover!!

This image was taken nearly 3 years ago, on October 21, 2011,  while walking the hills behind Shamona Creek Elementary School in Downingtown, within a few feet of 40°3’27” N 75°42’7″ W.

As you can see, there once stood a corn field, but as the fall season approaches, the migrating geese fly to a nice place to eat and rest for the night.

This view does NOT exist anymore.

Since then, the new Marsh Creek Sixth Grade Center has been built, and my daughter, Madison, is one of the first students in the new building!

Again, many thanks to the wonder folks over at County Lines Magazine!

North West trails of Marsh Creek State Park

I captured these images during a fall walk along the North West trails of Marsh Creek State Park in Chester County, PA.

These images share some of the views during my 5+ mile walk, and thankfully, the there was no real rain to speak of during my outing.

Once again, the storm clouds added some drama to the scenes.

Hope you enjoy!

October Cover for CLM

In early September, I got a chance to work with Jaimielynn Cooper of County Lines Magazine to shoot the October cover at Wolff’s Apple House in Media, PA.

After an hour or so of looking around at the various fruits and vegetables that were available to us, Jaimielynn & I  put together various scenes, took a couple of cell phone shots, and sent them back to the editors for review.

I thought to my self how much things had changed.

Gone are the days of shooting a test shot with a Polaroid…

The image slowly came together, and we captured this –

In the days leading up to the October release date, there were a few magazine sightings!

Fall in White Clay Creek Preserve

Some images taken during a Fall visit to White Clay Creek Preserve in Southeast Chester County, near the Delaware border.

I had a great walk along the Penndel Trail, which is on the Western side of the White Clay Creek (East Branch).

Hope you enjoy!

A Fall walk in the Peacedale Preserve

Some images taken during a late Fall walk in the Natural Lands Trust’s Peacedale Preserve in Chester County, PA.

There was a weather front moving through while I was there, which allowed for some very interesting cloud and lighting conditions, and several times, I was able to see some Crepuscular rays.

At one point during my walk, I encountered a real old-timer.

In the middle of the Preserve, there is a huge beech tree, at is 3-4 feet in diameter, and easily several hundreds of years old!

I don’t think I have ever seen a monster like this!

I was also extremely surprised with all the wooly bear caterpillar that I encountered. (Predicting Winter Weather: Woolly Bear Caterpillars)

During my walk, I had to avoid walking on over a dozen of these critters!
