Fireworks time again!!

It is that time of the year again for fireworks!!

For those of you in Chester County PA area, here is a guide to local events that my friends of at County Line Magazine put together!

Where to Find Fireworks? (PDF)

My fellow photographer friend, Dan Potter, also put together a nice list of do’s and don’t when photographing fireworks!

I do take issue with his Bulb settings (#2) comment.

Looking back into my collection…

  • Canonet (circa late 1960s) – B on the Lens
  • AE-1 (circa early 1980s) –  B on the Dial
  • F-1 (circa mid 1980s) – B on the Dial
  • PowerShot A70 (circa early 2000s) – M on the Dial
  • PowerShot SX130 (circa early 2010s) – M on the Dial
  • Rebel XTi (circa 2007) – M on the Dial
  • Rebel T5i (circa 2014) – M on the Dial

What my data suggests, that you might be referring to an older analog film based camera, and if memory serves me correctly, Nikon did the SAME THING on their line during that time!

In both cases (Canon vs Nikon), it was the nature of analog film cameras to have the Speeds on the Upper Dial and the Aperture on the Lens itself.

These days, both are done via the various digital modes, one being (M)anual.

Dan also makes a good point to “know your location” and to be able to “adjust quickly”. (#4)

In the various years that I have photographed the Good Neighbor Fireworks, their launch area does seem to be a moving target from year to year!

In any case, enjoy the tips and have a GREAT 4th of July Weekend!!

Images from Media in County Lines Mag!

I am happy to announce that the Folks at County Lines Magazine have published several more of my images in this June’s “Meet Me in Media” article!

Back in April, I spent a chilly morning wandering around Media with Jaimielynn Cooper, as she planned her story for the article. It was like having my own personal tour guide of the town!

When I received the Final PDF Proof of the article, it was also fun to see that I shared image space with Ralph Nardell, as I first learned about him on Flickr and then on Facebook.

The world just seems to get smaller!

Here are some additional images that were taken that April morning.

If you are interested in the Full Article, it can be viewed in PDF format with this Link:

Thanks again to Jaimielynn Cooper and all the wonderful Folks behind the scenes at County Line Magazine!

Published in County Lines Magazine!

As Seen In – County Lines Magazine

I’ve been rather low-key about this, and I was going to say something yesterday, but…

I am happy to announce that I have 5 images appearing in the April 2014 edition of County Lines Magazine, including a two-page opening spread on our little town of Downingtown – “Small Town Heaven“!

My main sunset image also appears on the County Lines website, in the feature section, but to be honest, I LOVE the print edition better!

Here is a PDF version of the article!

The original image was a hand-held panorama and really needs to be seen wide, to get the full feeling, and the two-page printed version does this well!

I want to really thank all the folks at County Lines for their hard work, and especially Jaimielynn Cooper who was such a delight to work with during this project!

So look for the April Print Edition, which also happens to be the Wedding Edition, at your local newsstands and bookstores in Chester County, Montgomery, Berks, Lancaster, New Castle and Delaware counties or by subscription.

Thanks again to all those involved!
